How to make a suit feel more like you

Suits, as classic as they are, can feel a little… formal, if you’re not used to wearing them. And, as much as you’d perhaps like to go to that wedding, or baptism, or interview in something a little more comfortable, I wouldn’t advise doing that unless the invite or memo specifically states casual.

So, I’m here to give you some options.. you know, to make that suit feel a little more like you.

ADD SOME COLOUR

You’re a little bored of the classic navy or charcoal grey suit, and don’t really feel like it suits your personality? Add a pop of colour or a fun print!

BREAK IT UP

For a summer wedding, pairing your suit jacket with a pair of casual chino style pants is a great option. Now, you have to be a little careful here because it is a very serious fashion faux pas to break apart a suit, but if you have a suit that is perhaps a little more casual, or has a textured fabric, it is easy to go undetected whilst breaking the rule. If you want this kind of versatility in your suits, having them made is a great option - just ask us!

ADD SOME LAYERS

I know this won’t apply for summer weddings or events, but if you want to make your fall / winter suit a little more warm, you can layer a sweater. This year we’ve been seeing a lot go mock and turtle necks paired with suits, but if that isn’t quite your style, you can simply pair a crewneck merino wool sweater on its own, or over top of a dress shirt, with the collar and cuffs pulled out.
